This NVR supports backing up ﬁles to USB ﬂash drives and USB hard drives through the USB

port on the front panel. Remote backups can be performed over the Internet. Refer to Section

2.4 Remote Backup in the Remote Monitoring Guide.

NOTE! External USB hard drives used for backing up data will need to be

in the FAT32 format. Most new drives will need to be reformatted before use

with this NVR.

FORMATTING A USB DRIVE IN FAT32

Windows XP to Windows 7:

STEP 1. Connect drive to PC

STEP 2. Go to My Computer to locate the drive’s icon.

STEP 3. Right click on it and select Format in the list of available options.

STEP 4. Select FAT32 and check the box marked Quick Format

STEP 5. Click Start.

Windows 8 and 8.1

STEP 1. Connect drive to PC

STEP 2. Click the Start Button

STEP 3. Click Control Panel

STEP 4. Click System and Security

STEP 5. Click Administrative Tools

STEP 6. Double-click Computer Management

STEP 7. In the left pane, click Disk Management (under Storage)

STEP 8. Right click on the disk or partition to be formatted

STEP 9. Click Format

STEP 10. Select FAT32 under File System.

STEP 11. Click OK and then click OK again.

For USB drives over 32GB in size, you should use a FAT32 format utility such as those

available through CNET.com.
