3.4 SHUTDOWN
The NVR should never be shut off by unplugging
it or by using the power switch without first using
the Shutdown function.
This function allows you to shut down the NVR
safely by letting the system finish writing files,
parking the hard drive and other actions to
preserve the electronics. Once the process has
finished (generally a minute or two), the recorder
will inform you that it can be safely unplugged or
the power switch can be turned off.

LOG OUT
Normally, your system will log a user out after a period of inactivity. This period can be set in the General
section of the System settings window. The Logout function allows you to secure the NVR before
then if, for example, you will be away from your system and others have access to the room where it is
located. It is also used when there are multiple users with different levels of access and control. Once
logged out, a user will need to log back in as normal.
RESTART
Your NVR is essentially a highly specialized computer. Like any other computer, its performance may
benefit from being rebooted on occasion. If you have not disabled the Startup Wizard, it will launch when
the NVR restarts, but if you are not having network problems, you can exit the Wizard without having to
go through it again.
